Mary Anne Porter Obituary

Mary Anne Porter, 81, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2024 while under the care of hospice with loved ones by her side. 

Mary Anne was born August 29, 1942 in Mobile, Alabama to the late, Walker Calvin Pippin and Jennie Ruth Montgomery Pippin. She dedicated her life to serve others as a police officer and an EMT.  Mary Anne retired from the City of Mobile and the University of South Alabama. She loved working as an EMT and as an instructor for the Red Cross in her spare time. Mary Anne’s accomplishments included being a Chief Elder of the American Cherokee Conference, a Rape Crisis Counselor, and a member of the Red Hat Society.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Robert Joseph Mickelson, and her brother, Gary Pippin. Mary Anne will be dearly missed by those who cared for and loved her. 

Mary Anne is survived by her daughters, Sharron Hays of Hinesville and Laura Brown of Albany; 4 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Friday, April 19, 2024 at 11:00 am at Pine Crest Cemetery in Mobile, Alabama. Pastor Art Burroughs will be officiating the service.
