Allen John Cashon, the son of Dr. Betty Cook Cashon, passed away on August 11, 2021. He was born at Fort McPherson, Georgia on August 5, 1955.
A memorial will be held on Sunday, August 22, 2021 at 3:00 at Thomas Carter Funeral Home Chapel.
John grew up at a special time in the small town of Ellijay, Georgia. In small town’s everybody knows your name, your parents, and your grandparents. Children ran and played all over unsupervised without fear of harm or danger, as their parents worked in stores and businesses around the town square. He attended Ellijay Elementary School and played football in the church yard with the town kids after school.
Later John transferred to Forsyth High School in Forsyth, Georgia. He quickly became noted for his special athletic skills and talents. He starred and lettered in football, baseball and track. One coach stated that John was the most naturally talented player he had ever coached.
John earned a football scholarship at New Berry College, South Carolina.
Later John attended North Georgia’s College in Dahlonega, Georgia. He loved the school and his classes. John earned a double major in chemistry and biology. His passion he carried to the end. Because of his love for science, John donated his body to Life Links, Inc. He wanted to use his God-given body to help others.
He came to Hinesville in the early 2000’s. John became a leader in construction through developing innovative new leadership and original techniques.
John is survived by his Mother Dr. Cashon, Aunt Cookie Boswell of Cleveland, Mississippi, Uncle Roy Cook of Murphy, North Carolina and several special cousins.
