With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, April Arlette Rulason, who passed away suddenly on October 14, 2025.
Born on January 10, 1954, April was a woman of warmth, creativity, and grace. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ophiela Harcus and William Kile, and her sister, Celia.
April married Henry Rulason in 1985 and built a beautiful life filled with love, family, and laughter. She worked as the head gardener at FLETC, where her passion for nature shone through. Her dedication earned her recognition for base beautification—an honor that reflected her lifelong appreciation for beauty in all of nature’s wonders. Later, she was the proud owner of April’s Day Care, where she cared for many children with the same tenderness she gave her own.
April had a flair for fashion and a deep love of jewelry and gemstones. Her sparkling spirit matched her eye for elegance, and she brought light and color to every room she entered.
She is survived by her daughter Connie Miller Farnell (Richard); grandsons Jacob Conley and A.J. Toler; her son Stephen Anthony Rulason (Amber); granddaughter Jasmyne Rulason; and grandson Daemon Rulason and her brother, Byron Kile.
April’s love, laughter, and wisdom will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home & Crematory is handling the arrangements.
