Barbara Ann (Taylor) Barry

Barbara Ann Taylor Barry, 88, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2026, at her home in Bluffton, SC under the care of Agape Hospice with her daughter Teri and granddaughter Melanie by her side.

Mrs. Barry was born April 27, 1938, in Walthourville, GA to the late Willia Asa Taylor and Nora Mae Howze Taylor. Mrs. Barry and her husband, Terry T. Barry, lived in Bluffton for 43 years. She served as the Bluffton Postmaster for over 25 years, while her husband served as the Hilton Head Postmaster. After retirement, they owned an H&R Block franchise in Bluffton.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two sons, Rodney Eugene Hughes, and Donald George Hughes; her siblings, Joseph David Taylor, Jesse Asa Taylor, Noah Taylor, Sr., and EstelenaHoward; and grandson Andrew Bolton. 

She is survived by her sisters, ConceliaEvelyn Taylor and Loudell Eidson; her children, Teri Hughes Durden French of Bluffton, SC, Fred Michael Hughes of Ridgeland, SC, Amanda Barry Bolton (Mike McCain) and Terry Tyrone Barry, Jr. (Patricia Lynn); her grandchildren Melanie Morrison (Brian), Daphne Paige Linton, Brett Thomas Bolton (Sarah), Erin Amanda Bolton, and Tyler Hans Barry (Rachel); sixteen great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. 

Mrs. Barry loved her family and found comfort spending time with her children and her faithful companion, her dog, Sira. 

A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in Bonaventure Cemetery.
