Barbara “Millie” Boan Obituary

“It is with great sorrow that we announce the death of our mother, Barbara Emilie “Millie” Boan née Laux, who went to her heavenly home on April 1, 2021 after a long illness.”  The Boan Family

Millie was born in Dungenheim, Germany on February 19, 1936. She saw the rise and fall of the Nazi’s. She met her husband William “Bill” Boan, in Paris, France in 1955 while working for an American Family. Millie became an American citizen in 1963, while our father was stationed at the Pentagon.  Together they made it through many military moves, but were lucky that most of them were in Europe, so as to be close to her family. They settled in Hinesville. Georgia after being stationed here in 1975. Millie was preceded in death by her oldest son, Terry Lee Boan, her parents Peter and Katharina Laux, her oldest sister, Elfride Weber, her older brother, Tony Laux, and youngest sister, Gerti Ratcliffe.

Millie leaves behind her husband of 60 years, William “Bill” Boan, daughter, Rose Boan-Cedola (Bert), son, Billy Boan (Angie), grandchildren who knew her by Oma, Will, Stephanie, Jake, BJ, Faith, Jaylee, Gabby, nieces and nephews here in the United States and Germany, two great-grandchildren and her best friend, Karin Miller.
