Bettie Ann Ferrell Bittle, 69, passed away Monday, April 11, 2022 at Thunderbolt Transitional Care and Rehabilitation in Thunderbolt, Georgia.
Bettie was born on October 1, 1952 to the late Louie and Esther Ferrell in Savannah, Georgia. Bettie spend her younger years in Richmond Hill and attended schools there. After high school Bettie traveled with her brother JD to Oklahoma and met the love of her life, Johnny who was in the Air Force. Bettie and Johnny married on December 22, 1973. Together they traveled to many locations. They lived in Okinawa, Japan, Michigan, Wyoming, South Carolina and Florida. Johnny retired in 1990 while in Florida and he and Bettie moved back to Georgia to buy a home, settle down, and raise their family.
Bettie enjoyed being back home in Georgia where she was close to her family. She enjoyed long talks with her sisters and being home allowed her to help take care of her mother. Bettie enjoyed arts and crafts, cooking, painting, and taking care of her two boys. She was an avid collector of fine China including, plates, figurines and tea pots, which she displayed proudly. Bettie drove a bus for a few years for children with special needs. She loved her family fiercely and adored her two granddaughters. Bettie was preceded in death by her son, Tommy Louie Bittle, her parents, Louie and Esther, her two brother, Joe Dan and William “Bill” Ferrell and brother in law, Ronnie Mock. She will be dearly missed by her family and all of those who loved her.
Bettie is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Johnny Bittle of Midway; her two sons, Johnny Bittle (Jill) of Yellow Bluff and Charles Ray Bittle (Susan) of Rincon; two granddaughters, Kara Brinson of Savannah and Katelyn Bittle of Rincon; two sisters, Mary Clark (David) of Fleming and Ollie Mock of Fleming and many other extended family members.
Visitation services will be held on Wednesday, April 20th, 2022 at the Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home in Flemington from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 21st, 2022 at 11:00 am at the Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J.C. Wright officiating. Committal services will follow at 1:00 pm at the Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery’s Family Plot in Savannah, Georgia.
Pallbearers: Jacob Neely, Johnny Neely, Neal Clark, Robert Clark, Michael Clark and Stephen Marcum.
