Obituary

Bruce Reuben Ray, 67, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2022 while under the care of hospice with family by his side.

Bruce was born on June 25, 1954 in Ludowici to the late Reuben and Retha Ray.  Bruce was a lifelong resident of Liberty County.  He attended Bradwell Institute and immediately went to work after school doing drywall in his family’s business. Bruce joined the Georgia Army National Guard where he served for 17 years. He was a master drywall finisher by trade and was he was very good at what he did. Bruce was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing most of all. He loved his family and he loved his church family.  Bruce was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Reuben and Retha and one grandson, Kyle Reuben Ray.  Bruce will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Bruce is survived by his wife of 37 years, Navin Ray of Hinesville; sons, Keith Ray of Ludowici, Josey Ray (Amelia) of Slidell, La. and Austin Ray of Bloomingdale; one daughter, Mandy Ray of Ludowici; brothers, Wade Ray of Gum Branch and Paul Ray (Carla) of Ludowici; sisters, Phillis Doughtie of Allenhurst and Rhonda Rowe (Clay) of Gum Branch; 11 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many other extended family members.

The family would like to express their appreciation to so many that have reached out to them, brought food, prayed and visited with them in their time of need.  They would like to give special thanks to the members of Liberty Baptist Church and GHC Hospice of Jesup for their compassion and heart felt love that they showed to our family.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2022 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Liberty Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 15, 2022 at 11:00 am at Liberty Baptist Church with Pastor Tommy Hamilton officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers: Austin Ray, Justin Ray, Jason Ray, Phillip Parker, Eddie Stanfield and Greg Wells.

Honorary pallbearers: The Men of Liberty Baptist Church.
