David A. Wynn

David A. Wynn, 80, passed away August 23, 2025 at home with his family at his side.  

David was born September 1, 1944 to Hubert Eugene and Clabie Bledsoe Wynn in Bowling Green, KY.  The family moved to Bainbridge, Georgia where he graduated from Bainbridge High School.  After graduation, David joined the US Air Force and married his wife, Helen Taylor, in 1966.  Upon completion of 4 years of service with the Air Force, David and Helen returned to Georgia, making their way to Savannah.

David began working at Seaboard Coast Line Railroad, now known as CSX.  He worked for the railroad for 44 years running trains between Jacksonville, FL and Florence, SC.  David spent many years shrimping and skiing the Ogeechee River.  When he wasn’t at work David enjoyed fishing, baking birthday cakes for family and friends, cooking for Isle of Wight Men’s Wednesday Wing Night, and he was always taking care of anyone who needed it.

David is survived by his wife of 59 years, Helen; daughter Sonja Wynn Stanford (Robert); grandson Robert “RJ” Stanford (Jessica Meissner); granddaughter, Harlee Stanford (Shaquille Lawrence); great grandson, Colton; brothers Carroll Wynn (Judy); Gene Wynn (Kim); Howard Wynn; sister, Susan Tabor and many nieces and nephews.  

David has gone to be with his parents, Hubert and Clabie; sisters, Mary Grace Glass, Gloria Brock, Martha Hils, and brother, William “Bill” Wynn.

The family is so grateful for the love and care given by their team at Georgia Hospice Care.  Many thanks to Lyndsey, Hayley, Silah, Jenna, Delaney, MeKayla, Darlene, Cassie, Savannah, Stephanie and John.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 28, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home in Flemington with Pastor Matthew Massey officiating with Air Force honors being rendered. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
