Dennis Alton Waters, Jr

Dennis Alton Waters, Jr., age 70, passed away peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior on January 27, 2021 at Candler Hospital due to complications from Covid-19. He was born in Frankfurt, Germany and was the eldest of four children born to the late Dennis A. Waters, Sr. and Mary Tezanos Waters. Dennis grew up in Allenhurst, GA and graduated from Bradwell Institute High School in 1968.  He attended Georgia Southern College where he graduated in 1973.  Upon graduation, Dennis returned to Allenhurst where he embarked on a long career in the residential and commercial real estate industry in coastal Georgia.   

Dennis was a faithful member of the Allenhurst Presbyterian Church and enjoyed Tuesday morning Bible study sessions at Dorchester with his dear friends. He had a passion for bird hunting, fishing and grilling out with family and friends. Above all, Dennis cherished his family, friends and especially his three grandchildren.  

Dennis leaves behind his beloved wife and soulmate of 48 years, Jan Waters.  He also leaves behind two children: Shelly Waters (Mollie) of Atlanta and Jessica Waters, PA-C, of Colonels Island and three grandchildren: Parker Waters, Anna Grace Waters and Addison Waters.  Dennis is additionally survived by his mother: Mary Waters of High Point, NC; one sister: Toni Ragno (Jim) of Kernersville, NC; two brothers: Rusty Waters (Martha) of Savannah, GA and George Waters (Beverly) of Richmond Hill, GA; a sister-in-law: Linda Parks of Hinesville, GA; and a brother-in-law: John Parks (Janet) of Ludowici, GA as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.  

A graveside funeral service will be held for family and close friends at 11:00AM on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Allenhurst Presbyterian Church with Pastor Randy Waters and Rev. Ben Beasley officiating.  Those in attendance are asked to wear a mask and adhere to social distancing guidelines.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Allenhurst Presbyterian Church.
