With love, we announce the passing of our daddy, Donald Lamar Davis, who left this life on the 20th of May 2025 at the age of 73 when the “Lord punched his ticket.”
Donnie was a loving son, brother, husband, daddy, papa and friend who lived his life full of his own wisdom, kindness, generosity and strength.
Born on September 6, 1951 to James Y. and Martha A. Davis of Ludowici, GA. As a life-long resident of Long County, he worked hard, loved harder and led his family straight to “crazy town”. Whether through his generous nature, “not-so-true” stories, the construction site or the drag strip, he left his imprint on everyone fortunate enough to know him. Tall tales and great big hands left him unforgettable.
He left his mark on his surviving family - 4 daughters, Oldest and Eldest, Cynthia J. Phillips (Charlie), his Warden, Melissa A. Deal (Timmy), his One and Only, Amy D. Nutting (Bill) and his baby, Debra M. Carter; His grandchildren, Kylie Anne Phillips, Timothy Michael Deal (Laura), Carson Ray and Brantley Lamar Hall, Virginia Sue, Johnnie Elizabeth, and Anne Louise Nutting, Davis Lenieu and Creed Donald Carter, and Lane Michael Deal. Also surviving, his ex spouse of 34 years and mother of his children, Jan St John. All are left to carry on his Donnie-Isms with pride. Though his physical presence will be missed the lessons he taught and love he gave will remain with us.
Donnie’s family was vast, being one of six siblings. Surviving are James “Jim” M. Davis, Debbie T. Abramhamson (Jeff), Lesa Creech, and brother in law, Charles Gordon as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Those preceding him in death are Lillian and George Alexander, Linda D. Gordon as well as his parents.
The remaining family is in those he loved and spent his work days with for over 40 years, the original PKC Crew. Those who remain are Mr. Paul B. Krebs, Darryl Gaskins, John Herrington, Lee Artis Baker, Todd Fleming, Glen Pearson and Ms. Sandy Stevens. Those that have gone on are James Stroud, Dub Herrin, Jimmy Howard, Marion Baker (Babe), Efrain, Bruh and Santee.
A special thank you to his devoted friend to the end and caregiver, Mary Eisenhardt and his grandson, Carson Ray Hall for stepping into the caregiver role with so much love.
A tribute to life will be held Saturday, May 24th, 2025 at 5:00 pm at Sassafras located at 10090 Tibet Hwy SE, Allenhurst, GA. All who knew and loved Donnie are welcome to attend (except for those who know who you are). We look forward to you sharing with us your stories of life with our Daddy.
Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home & Crematory is handling the arrangements.
