Dr. Cliphane Wilton McLeod

Dr. Cliphane Wilton McLeod, 74, of Savannah, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.

Cliff was born on July 8,1948 to Rudolph and Elize McLeod in Panama City, Panama. He was raised in Brooklyn, New York and graduated from Erasmus Hall High School in 1966. He married his wife Joan on May 26, 1973. Inspired by an accident where his mother nearly lost her life, Cliff decided to attend medical school at University of Buffalo, choosing Obstetrics and Gynecology as his specialty. He joined the Air Force where he served for 5 years. Cliff lived in Buffalo, NY, San Antonio, TX and Phoenix, AZ, before becoming a private practice physician. He opened his practice in Hinesville, GA in 1986, where he served the community until he retired in 2016. Cliff delivered over 5,000 babies in Hinesville and Savannah during his lifetime. He loved his patients and was grateful to help bring life into the world.

An Atlanta sports super fan, “Doc” was passionate about the Braves, Falcons, and Hawks. He enjoyed being on the water, fishing, flying drones, bowling, building computers, fast cars, motorcycles and jazz music. But more than anything, Cliff loved his beautiful family. A husband, father of five and grandfather “Pop-Pop” of two, he dedicated his life to making a better life for them. 

Cliff, the most loving family man, is survived by his wife of fifty years, Joan; sons, Cliphane II, Lucien, Travis, and Nicel; daughter, Natacha; and granddaughters Layla and Millay. His sister-in- law, Carolyn(Martin)and several cousins in NY.
He is preceded in death by his father, Rudolph; mother, Elize; and brother, George.

A wake will take place on Friday, April 21 at 6:00 p.m. at Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home, 1822 E. Oglethorpe Hwy, Hinesville, GA 31313. A Memorial Mass in his honor will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at St. Stephen First Martyr, 399 Woodland Drive, Hinesville, GA 31313. Services on Saturday morning will be live-streaming through the funeral homes Facebook page.
