Elaine Louise Mitchell

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Elaine L. Mitchell,  85, of Savannah Georgia.

Elaine Louise Mitchell was born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island on May 10, 1938 to George and Bertha Rivard. Elaine was very well loved as an only child. She married William “Bill” Mitchell on January 20, 1958 and they raised three children. Elaine passed at home on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 embraced by her children and grandchildren. 

Elaine is preceded in death by her parents, George and Bertha Rivard. She is survived by her children, Billy Mitchell, Kathy Mitchell Boukedes and Danny Mitchell, 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Elaine was a woman of spiritual conviction who enjoyed studying and discussing the stories of the Bible. She was an avid quilter and quilted for Quilts of Valor. Elaine was a veracious reader, loved a good cup of tea, and enjoyed cooking, and talking with and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a wonderful woman who cared for and provided for her family and anyone who was in need. Elaine lived a modest life to ensure her children would have everything they needed to become successful adults. She instilled upon her children that the virtues of faith, family and compassion far exceeded that of wealth or material possessions. Elaine will be deeply missed but her spirit will live on forever.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. at Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home in Flemington, Georgia. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the memorial service. A Celebration of Live will be conducted at a future date in St Augustine, Florida.
