Ellis Miness Obituary

Ellis Jerome “Sam” Miness, 55, went home to Jesus on Sunday, December 27, 2020 after a short illness.

Sam was born on November 30, 1965 in Hinesville, Georgia to Velma (Taylor) Miness and the late James “Pugg” Miness. He was a graduate of Bradwell Institute, Class of ‘84. Sam worked for United Van Lines for 20 years before becoming an entrepreneur where he owned and operated many businesses. He was a founding member of A New Beginning Church where he loved to serve in many capacities.

Sam was a hard working man who was very passionate about his family and beliefs. He was a mommas boy and owned that title very well. Sam employed all of his children at one time or another, and also fired them on many occasions. His ideal of family time was getting the whole family together to watch a movie and then he would take a nap.  Sam believed in doing things ‘strictly by the book.’ He was preceded in death by his dad, Pugg, his sister, Brenda Miness Smith and brother, Travis Miness.  Sam will be dearly missed by his family and many others that knew and loved him.

Sam is survived by his wife of 21 years, Michelle Knott Miness; six children, Samantha Miness (Shaune), Jessie Miness (Jessica), Kyle Knott, Alayna Benton (DJ), Amber Miness and Ashley Miness; mother, Velma (Taylor) Miness (Dale Rozier); brother, Clay Miness; grandchildren, Daniel Brewton, Carrington Knott, Brendan Brewton, Cadence Miness and Adalynn and Emmarie Benton; several nieces and nephews and other extended family members.

Pallbearers: Justin Ray, Jason Ray, Jack Hayden, Dylan Stewart, Bo Dunham, Keith Ray, Tony Mullis, Dale Rozier, Kyle Knott, Alex Schaefers, Ben Bolen, Lil Ben Bolen, Ozzie Merritt, Paul Spradley, Mark Pruitt and Sergio Perez.

Honorary Pallbearers: Daniel Dasher, Dennis Waters, Clenton Wells, Kelly Bland, Steve Kirby, Jacob Gardner and Bubba McLamb.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home in Flemington. Masks are required to enter the visitation.
