Franklin Delano Bradford, 80, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at home while under the care of hospice.
Mr. Franklin was born December 1, 1942 in Washington, D.C., to his late parents, James J. Bradford and Naomi Walker Bradford. Mr. Bradford was a very ambitious young man and set out to accomplish many goals in his life. In 1969 he graduated from Eastern Detective Academy in Washington, D.C. where he obtained his detectives badge. He then enlisted into the United States Army where he served for over 20 years until his retirement. While enlisted he was awarded many awards, ribbons and medals to commemorate his exceptionally distinguished military career. Mr. Bradford also worked and retired from Smith State Prison in Glennville. He will be dearly missed by many.
Mr. Bradford loved traveling, fishing, dancing and singing. He was also an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching them all especially baseball. He also loved watching old westerns shows.
Mr. Bradford leaves behind, his wife, Anna Bradford; son, Franklin Bradford, Jr.; stepchildren, Shante Green, Arthur (Jana) Glass, Jr., James Green and Jesseica Price; siblings, James “Jim” C. (Betsy) Bradford, Patricia A. Allen, Herbert L. Bradford and Roberta N. (Ted) Anderson; grandchildren, nieces and nephews, cousins and many other extended family members.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at 1:00 pm at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville where full military honors will be rendered. Rev. Dale Bange will be officiating Mr. Bradford’s service.
