George Robert Olsen II, age 69, of Hinesville, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home on the morning of June 8, 2025.
Born on June 17, 1955, in Brooklyn, New York, he was a beloved son of George and Edith (Hopper) Olsen, a devoted husband, brother, father, and friend who touched the lives of many with his kindness and willingness to help those around him throughout the years.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Barbara Olsen; his son, George R. Olsen III, and granddaughter, Sophia Olsen; his son & daughter-in-law, Ray & Jill Carratala, along with two grandsons, Giovanni (Gigi) & Elijah; and five siblings.
George spent over 20 years volunteering for multiple fire departments, including Wanaque and McAfee in New Jersey, where he later became Fire Chief. During the last eight years, George could be found working on vehicles and sharing his expertise at Rogers’ Auto Care. His biggest passion was helping animals—anytime he wasn’t at the shop, he was volunteering his time at a local animal shelter, Allmons All About Animals Inc.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Animalaidusa.org in George R. Olsen II’s memory.
