Givens White Peden, Jr.

Givens White "GW" Peden Jr. passed away at home in Gumbranch, GA, on the afternoon of Tuesday, August 3, 2021.

GW was 67 years old. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Karen; children, Trey McIntyre (Brad) of Santa Clara, CA and Lee Peden of Dickson, TN; and grandchildren, Georgia & Landon McIntyre.  

GW was born August 21, 1953 in Ft. Bragg, NC to Lenice and Givens "Pete" Peden Sr.  He was the youngest Peden child behind Niles and Yvonne Peden.  Calvin, Sharon, and Randal Peden came later.  The family moved around some following the senior Peden's military career before settling on land in Gumbranch, which is where GW ultimately established his home.  

GW also had a military career with the US Army before starting a career in construction.  He quickly became proficient in carpentry, masonry, heavy machine operation, and other skills before taking the lead as a superintendent. He was widely recognized for his knowledge, skill, and dedication to building safety.

A board member and deacon of Crossroads  Holy Church of God, GW was active in the church community where he was known for his generosity of spirit and sense of humor. He enjoyed studying the Bible, planning home improvement projects, and naps. GW was particularly known by his kids' friends for his shenanigans, like puling up to summer camp with a cooler full of water balloons. 

Services are planned for Saturday, August 7, 2021 at Crossroads Holy Church of God. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am and funeral services at 12:00 pm. with military honors being rendered. The Peden Boys will be active pallbearers. Pastor Jeptha Newberry will be officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. 

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers to please make a donation to the church.
