Helen Taylor Wynn “Granny”, 79, peacefully passed away on May 26,2026 at her home.
Helen was born September 17, 1946 to Hubert and Lillian Taylor in New York. As the daughter of a Methodist preacher she moved multiple times and in January 1966 married David in Fort Worth, Texas. David brought her home to Georgia and they spent their years building a home together. Helen was a homemaker and ran a tight ship. Between 1985 and 1988 she was the BI dancerette Mama, accompanying the team wherever they traveled. While her body was able she enjoyed weekends skiing on the Ogeechee River and fishing in the local tidal creeks around Isle of Wight. She always loved having her grandchildren around.
Helen is survived by her daughter Sonja Wynn Stanford (Robert); grandchildren Robert “RJ” Stanford (Jessica Meissner) and Harlee Stanford (Shaquille Lawrence); great grandson Colton; brothers Daniel, Mike and John; brothers in law Carroll, Gene, and Howard; sister in law but sister in her heart, Susan and many nieces and nephews.
She has gone on to be rejoined with David, her husband of 60 years; her parents, Hubert and Lillian Taylor; sister, Shirley Ann Johnson; and brother, Ernest Taylor.
Our family is thankful for the support of Georgia Hospice Care and their team-Marie, Jenna, Darlene, Savannah, Selah, Lindsey and Lorie.
Special thanks to Jamie and Lillie for loving on Helen and assisting with her day to day for the last several months.
The family will have a private memorial at a later date. The family asks that in honor of Granny you spend time with those you love.
Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home & Crematory is handling the arrangements.
