With profound sadness and loving remembrance, Herbert Lincoln Bradford, 79, passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at home.
Herbert Bradford was born on February 12, 1946, in Washington, D.C., to James J. Bradford and Naomi Bradford. Affectionately known as Herb, he served honorably for twenty years in the United States Army, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. Following his military retirement, Mr. Bradford continued his dedication to service through his work with the Veterans Administration. He graduated from Dunbar High School in 1965, establishing a foundation for a life characterized by integrity and commitment.
Mr. Bradford was passionate about Karaoke and possessed an impressive singing ability, with “One in a Million” being among his favorite songs. He also enjoyed roller skating and dancing. Above all, he maintained strong religious convictions, regularly watching broadcasts by Pastor Creflo Dollar, engaging in ongoing Bible study, and consistently offering encouragement and kindness to those around him.
He is survived by his daughter, Carla Renee Brown; son, Herbert Charles Bradford; siblings Patricia Allen Long, Roberta N. Anderson (Theodore); grandchildren Octavia Brown, Indiah Brown; several great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members. Mr. Bradford was predeceased by his parents, brothers James Bradford, Franklin Bradford, and sisters Jamie Lee Bradford, Emma Sue Bradford, and Jacqueline Bradford Buggs.
Herbert Bradford will be remembered and missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 5, 2025 at 1:00 pm at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville where full military honors will be rendered.
