Huguette Marcelle Kelius

Huguette Marcelle (Mechler) Kelius, 79, of Hinesville passed away peacefully at Wayne Memorial Hospital with family and friends on April 26, 2021.

Huguette was born on November 9, 1941 in Nancy, France, to Louis Xavier Mechler (deceased) and Paulette Nelly Carré (deceased), but fondly called Ludowici, Georgia, where she lived with her husband Dennis and son Berton “Jr”, home.

Surviving the “Battle of Nancy” in 1944 France, she continued to reside in Nancy until she met her first husband (dec.) who was stationed in Toul-Rosiéres AFB. While there she gave birth to her oldest son, Berton Kincaid Jr. They were then stationed at Ft. Benning, Georgia where she gave birth to her youngest son, Steve F. Kincaid (dec.). Afterwards her husband was stationed at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma where they then divorced. She then met and married her current husband, Dennis Kelius, on October 9th 1981 in Clay County Texas. They then moved to Hinesville, Georgia in the 1980's where Dennis was stationed at Ft. Stewart. Ultimately moving to their forever home in Ludowici, where she would enjoy life surrounded by good family, friends, and a multitude of animals she had as pets. She always looked forward to visits from her youngest son, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed going to her local auctions to find deals on antiques and knick-knacks.

She was preceded in death by Louis Xavier Mechler (father), Paulette Nelly Carré (mother), Nellie Cecile Mechler (sister) Steve Ferguson Kincaid (son), and Steve Louis Kincaid (grandson). She is survived by Dennis Kelius (husband), Berton Everett Kincaid Jr (son), Hwa Cha “Sin” Kincaid (daughter-in-law), Jung Neiman (granddaughter), and two great-grandchildren Austin Penny and Cooper Theodore.
