Jason Rogers Obituary

Jason Martin Rogers of Fleming, 48, passed away suddenly on Christmas Day at St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah.

Jason was born on January 14, 1974, in Savannah, Georgia, to David and Angie Rogers. As a child, Jason enjoyed playing football and baseball and riding the four-wheeler. In the summer, you could find him fishing and swimming, and once fall rolled around, he spent almost every Friday night cheering on the Bradwell Tigers with his grandparents. Jason graduated from Bradwell Institute, then went on to Georgia Southern University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Accounting. Jason began his career as an external auditor with the Georgia Department of Audits and Accounts. Later, he accepted a position with the Liberty County School System as Assistant Director of Finance and worked his way up to Assistant Superintendent of Maintenance and Operations. Eventually, he moved to Bryan County Schools as Assistant Superintendent of Operations, Business, and Finance, where he became an integral part of the construction of the new Richmond Hill High School.

In July of 1999, Jason married his best friend and the love of his life, Tracey Dasher. They spent the first years of their marriage traveling, spending lots of time on the beach, and cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves. On February 21, 2003, the happiest day of his life, Jason and Tracey welcomed Elizabeth Grace into their world. From that day forward, they would refer to themselves as The Rogers 3. They continued to travel throughout Elizabeth's childhood and spent weekends at home watching movie marathons, especially Harry Potter. Jason loved working in his yard, cooking for his family, trying out new tailgating recipes on game days, and going to the coast to crab while spending time with his two favorite ladies. He never missed an opportunity to cheer on his Dawgs and loved to go saltwater fishing with his Daddy.

Jason is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Pate and Eva Rogers; great grandmother Dora Louise "Weza" Coffer; and maternal grandparents M.L. "Darlin" and Beverly "Bebla" Coffer. He is survived by his wife of twenty-three years, Tracey Dasher Rogers; daughter, Elizabeth Grace Rogers; parents, David and Angie Rogers; sister, Pam (Allen) Proman; nephew and niece, Trey and Payton Proman; aunt Amy (Pat) Bowen; and cousins Briana (David) Dixon, Beverly (Joe) Maley, and Bowen Maley.
