Mrs. Jean Fleming Parks, 97, passed away peacefully at her home in Hinesville on Monday, January 25, 2021.
Mrs. Parks was born on November 18, 1923 in Hinesville to the late Mr. John Fleming and Mrs. Jeanette Fleming. She grew up in Hinesville and attended Bradwell Institute. Jean married George Parks and traveled some with his military career, but managed to raise their three children in Hinesville.
Jean was a faithful servant to God and spent most of her time praying for others. Her mild, sweet disposition was always evident when you spoke with her. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hinesville. In her earlier years, she taught Sunday School and sang in the Church Choir.
Jean is survived by her three children: Jan Waters (Dennis), Linda Parks, and John Parks (Janet) along with 6 grandchildren: Shelly Waters (Mollie), Jessica Waters, Ann Kesterke (Chuck), Stephanie Shealy (Drew), John Harrison Parks and Ben Parks. She leaves seven great-grandchildren and a niece, Linda Riggs.
A private family graveside service will be held at Allenhurst Presbyterian Cemetery where Jean will be buried next to her beloved husband, George Parks. Hospice Chaplain Libby Gardner will be officiating the service. The family would like to thank Georgia Hospice Care for their dedication, love, and support during Jean’s sickness. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that remembrances be made to GHC Hospice at 141 South Macon Street, Jesup, Georgia 31545.
Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home, Flemington, is handling arrangements.
