Joan Patricia Boyer, 92, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, February 20, 2026, while under the care of hospice and surrounded by her loving family.
Joan was born on November 15, 1933, in St. John’s, Newfoundland, to the late Cyril and Mary Fitzpatrick. At the age of 21, she met and fell in love with a young United States Air Force serviceman, Lee Edward Boyer, who was stationed in her hometown. Their love story blossomed into a lifelong marriage filled with devotion, adventure, and faith.
As a proud military wife, Joan traveled extensively throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe, embracing each new duty station as home. Eventually, she and Lee settled in Liberty County, where they made their final duty station their permanent home and lovingly raised their family.
Joan was a devoted homemaker who took great pride in caring for her family. She loved gardening and could often be found tending to her beautiful flowers. She was an exceptional cook whose meals brought everyone to the table. Joan was known for being strong-willed and opinionated, qualities that reflected her passion and deep convictions. She was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling, and had a fondness for antiques.
Above all else, Joan loved the Lord Jesus with all her heart. Her faith was the foundation of her life. She read her Bible daily and lived out her faith in quiet strength and unwavering devotion. Her love for her Savior and her family defined her life.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lee Edward Boyer; and her two daughters, Darlene Linda Boyer and Ranoda Belinda Gronefeld.
Joan leaves behind a legacy of faith and family. She is survived by her six children: Lee Raymond Boyer (Josephine), Dr. Cy F. Boyer (Dr. Jocelyn E. Boyer), Sharon Mary Fagerstrom (Dean Eric), Bonita Joan Miller (Ellis), Clayton Daniel Boyer (Karen), and Lisa Michelle Canty; her sister, Shirley Fitzpatrick; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and dear friends who will cherish her memory.
Though her family grieves her passing, they rejoice in knowing she is now at peace in her eternal home.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at 1:00 pm at the Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home in Flemington with burial to follow at Flemington Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
