Kristyn “Kris” Elizabeth Meier

Kristyn “Kris” Elizabeth Meier, 40, passed away at her home in Quincy, IL on September 9, 2022. 

Kristyn was born to Philip Meier and Janice Sasser Meier on Sept. 3, 1982 in Savannah, GA. She attended Glennville Christian Academy in Glennville, GA, Snelson-Golden Middle School and Liberty County High School in Hinesville, GA, and completed 12th grade at North Forsyth High School in Cumming, GA. 

In her youth, Kristyn was a very talented and passionate athlete; she played softball at the Liberty County Recreation Department, playing shortstop and hitting in the top of the batting order. She was also the first female to play football at Snelson-Golden Middle School. She truly loved playing sports and was a joy to watch on the field. She was also an avid equestrian, spending much of her time riding horses at Dixie Stables in Allenhurst, GA. Kristyn loved music, and sang in the church choir and in chorus throughout middle and high school. She also performed in numerous talent shows. She grew up loving the outdoors, spending much of her free time fishing with her grandpa in his ponds, shooting with her brother, riding four wheelers, climbing trees, and being outside as often as she could. 

Kristyn was a person of deep empathy and compassion for others, as evidenced by her time spent working as a paramedic and home health aid, and in the care and attention she gave her ailing grandmother in the months and days before her passing. Even in the face of the direst of circumstances, she was a kid at heart who always had a quick joke and a hearty laugh ready when you needed it the most. The world is a far lesser place without her in it, and she will be dearly missed by her friends and family.

Kristyn is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Peter and Regina Meier; her maternal grandparents Ira. L and Betty (Winskie) Sasser; her uncles Bobby Meier and Tony Wanner; and aunt Lori (Howard) Brooks. 

She is survived by her father Philip (Susan) Meier; mother Janice Sasser Meier; brother Aaron (Michelle) Meier; sister Victoria (Lee) Smith; uncles Larry (Morgan) Sasser, Jerry Meier, and Mike (Vickie) Meier; aunts Maryann Meier Wanner and Lucy Meier Turner; and numerous cousins and other extended family. 

A memorial service will be held for her at Thomas L Carter Funeral Home in Flemington, GA on October 7, 2022 at 2:00 PM. The service will be livestreamed on the Thomas L Carter Funeral home Facebook page for those that cannot attend in person.
