Larry Wayne King, 68, Wayne as his friends knew him, passed away on August 25, 2023.
Wayne, a life long resident of Liberty County, was born on October 24, 1954. He was the ultimate family man who never hesitated to help someone in need or answer a phone call to talk with loved ones. He retired as a Captain after 34 enjoyable years with the Georgia State Patrol Motor Carrier Division. He then found employment with Marine Repair Service and Container Maintenance Corporation, which had him travel to many different cities around the country and meet even more people he loved to work with. Wayne always made the people he was around laugh and feel like a family member.
Wayne led a fun and active life with his family and friends. Whether it was cruising around in his VW around Hinesville while in high school, playing paintball with the Bushwackers, coaching his kids softball and soccer teams, being in nature and constructing his beautiful yard, playing with his pets and loving every moment with his active grandsons, he left a trail of laughter everywhere he went. He was also an avid reader and loved to share his knowledge and opinion to those who wanted to talk with him about books, nature, history, spirituality and politics. We will take pleasure in knowing he made quite the impression on everyone he knew. He definitely passed on his joking spirit, that will continue to light up the world, through his five grandsons, Nolan, Carson, Liam, Cooper and Braxton. He couldn’t sit down on a couch without one of his grandsons climbing up in his lap.
His memory will be cherished by so many people close to him, but especially by his wife of 48 years Sylvie King, daughter Stephanie (Mike) Sisler, son Ryan (Kim) King, brother Wesley (Nancy) King, father-in-law Paul Spence, brother-in-law P.J. (Lisa) Spence, sister-in-law Shirley Knapp, step-father Ray Gaster, nieces, nephews, and grand dogs. We are certain he has been welcomed with loving arms by his parents Odis (Joyce) King, Catherine Gaster and Colette Spence who have previously passed away. In his memory, Wayne would have loved a donation to his grandsons’ favorite charities: Dravet Syndrome Foundation @ http://dravetfoundation.org or St. Baldrick’s Foundation @ http://www.stbaldricks.org/teams/CocoaBeachKids2024
A memorial service will be held Friday, September 8th, 2023 beginning at 6:00 pm at the Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Flemington.
