Leroy Guy Harrison

Leroy Guy Harrison, 67, passed away Friday, December 13, 2024 at Coastal Carolina Hospital in Hardeeville, South Carolina.

Leroy was known by the name of Leon to his friends and family. He was born April 29, 1957 in Bronx, New York. Leon grew up in Bronx where he also attended schools there. After high school Leon enlisted into the US Army on January 1st, 1976. Leon met and later married the love of his life, Maria Fuentes, on September 26th, 1979. After serving his country for 20 years, Leon decided it was time to retire. He retired as a staff sergeant on January 31st, 1996. Leon went back into the workforce as a correctional officer on May 26, 2009 where he worked until January 29, 2016. Leon and his wife, Maria were foster parents for many years. He is preceded in death by his mother, Beatrice D. Kelly. Leon will be greatly missed by his loved ones. 

Leon is survived by his wife of 45 years, Maria Harrison; sons, Jermaine Harrison and Maurice Harrison; sisters, Octavia Kelly-Gaston (Victor), Dorothea Wilson and Lynneta Harrison; brothers, Lennard Harrison (Lavern) and Howard Harrison (Jacqueline Kaba-Harrison);  sister-in-law, Maria Simms (Joseph); brother-in-law, Antonio Fuentes (Tatiana); 4 grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins. 

Services will be held on Friday, January 10, 2024 at 1:00 pm at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville where full military honors will be rendered.
