Leroy “Ronnie” Ivey, 79, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, December 14, 2022 after a short illness.
Ronnie was born December 23, 1942 in Blakley, Georgia to the late Cleo Ivey and Rossell McDaniel. He grew up in Miami, Florida and attended schools there as well. After graduation Ronnie enlisted into the United States Army where he served for twenty years. Ronnie moved back to Miami after his retirement from the Army and went to work as a medical photographer for the Veterans Administration for 25 years. Ronnie and his wife, Shirley decided it was time to find a place to call home and decided on the Georgia coast where they have lived for the past 17 years. He was of the Baptist Faith. Ronnie will be dearly missed by family and loved ones.
Ronnie is survived by his wife of 21 years, Shirley Ivey; son, Wayne Ivey; step-daughters, Katherine Michalowicz and Linnette Leroy; 2 sisters; 1 brother; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and many extended family members and close friends.
Visitation services will be held on Monday, December 19, 2022 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home in Flemington.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at 11:00 am at the Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Long officiating. Burial will be in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville where full military honors will be rendered.
