Lucille Esther Coen, 66, passed away peacefully August 31st, 2025 surrounded by her loved ones.
Lucille was born December 10th, 1958 in Cape Town, South Africa and later immigrated to The United States. She enjoyed traveling the world. Lucille worked as an accomplished Chef sharing her love for her home through her amazing dishes. Lucille enjoyed sharing her knowledge with many when it came to the kitchen. She taught many that passion, belonged in the kitchen as well as in everything you do. She knew how to make every dish taste and feel like home with every bite. Lucille had a love and passion for the arts. She spent many hours, days pouring her soul into creating beautiful mosaics. She felt most herself when she could just let her imagination flow. She was truly a force, one of a kind and admired for her strength, directness and honesty. She was a mother, motivator, soundboard, teacher and a true friend.
Lucille’s memory will be cherished and kept alive by her loving husband, Roger Owens; Her Children, Sean A Smoak, Robin F Smoak, Adriana M Smoak, Christian Prins Coen, Connor J Coen, Adopted Children John and Debbie Hagen, Adam and Michelle Jones, 11 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Sinjin M Coen and late husband, Randy Umstead
A Celebration of life will be held at The Chesapeake Environmental Center in Grasonville, MD on November 2nd 2025 from 12:30pm to 5:30pm.
Here is to you Suileman, we will always remember the imprint you left on this earth. Truly a divine being!
