Margaret M. Young, lovingly known to family and friends as Marge, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026, at the age of 96.
Born on October 26, 1929, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Marge was one of six children born to Thomas and Mary Laverty. As a young woman, she enjoyed summers in Wildwood, where she developed a lifelong love of the beach and the Jersey Shore. It was at a neighborhood dance that she met the love of her life, Tom. They married and, in 1950, began their life together along the New Jersey coast, raising their family first in Eatontown and later in Lincroft.
Marge dedicated many years of her professional career to Riverview Hospital in Red Bank, New Jersey, where she served as Benefits and Pensions Manager until her retirement in 1994. She was respected for her dedication, reliability, warmth, and unwavering sense of responsibility.
Retirement brought new opportunities to serve others. As a resident of the Seabrook adult community in Tinton Falls, New Jersey, Marge enjoyed welcoming new neighbors as a member of the community's welcoming committee. She also loved reading, working crossword puzzles, and playing Rummikub with friends and family. In her later years, she made her home in Savannah, Georgia.
Above all else, Marge was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her greatest happiness came from spending time with her family. Whether gathered around the table or enjoying a day at the beach—a place she cherished throughout her life—she created countless memories that will be treasured forever.
Marge was predeceased by her beloved husband, Tom, in 2004, and by her son, Tom, earlier this month.
She is lovingly remembered by her children, Patricia (Bob) Wallenstein, Bill Young, and Donna (Jim) Daly; her eight grandchildren, Kristin (Adam) Polhemus, Kelly (Michael) Kiley, Michael Wallenstein, Brian Wallenstein, Megan (Tyler) Hooks, Kara Daly (Julian), Amanda Young, and Michael Young; and her seven great-grandchildren, Elle, Quinn, Everett, Emma, Oliver, Layla, and Tyler.
Marge's kindness, quiet strength, and love for her family will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Marge in the near future.
Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home & Crematory is handling the arrangements.
