Marjorie “Caroll” Buffington Sawyer, 76, passed away November 18, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah due to heart complications.
Caroll was born July 23, 1945 to parents, Charles Terrell and Marjorie (Chasteen) Buffington in Griffin, Georgia. She attended school in Macon and after graduation she joined the workforce as a telephone operator. After the family moved to the Liberty County area in 1977, Caroll went to work for Coastal Utilities. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Marjorie, step-father, Jack Morris, brothers, Ken Buffington, Kethe Buffington, Joe Boggs and sister-in-law, Jeanne Buffington. Caroll will be greatly missed by those who loved her dearly.
Survivors: husband of 54 years, Charles “Chuck” Wendell Sawyer of Hinesville; daughters, Fran Sawyer of Arizona and Sara Quiram and her husband, Paul of Allenhurst; brothers, Terry Buffington of Dallas, Ga., Walter Buffington (Margaret) of Jonesboro, Ga., and Gene Buffington (Wanda) of Kathleen, Ga.; sister-in-law, Marian Boggs of Woodstock, Ga.; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren, Correy Busch (Danielle) of Iowa and their children, Harper and Andie, Aleighsa Flores of Texas and her children, Ashton and Ronnie, Charlah Rector (Chris) of Arizona and their daughter, Kelsey, Paul, Jr. “P.J.” Quiram of Allenhurst and Isabella “Bell” Quiram of Allenhurst and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 10, 2021 at 6:00 pm at the Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Flemington. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
