Matthew Niall Rooney

Matthew Rooney, 60, passed away, December 23, 2024 after a brief period of hospitalization resulting in unexpected complications.

Despite the dedicated efforts of the medical staff and the love of his family and friends by his side, he succumbed to brain damage caused by the event.

Matthew was born July 31, 1964 in New York City, New York. Matthew was the eldest and cherished son of Herbert and Kathleen Rooney. A devoted partner to Valencia and loving father to Connor, Matthew's kindness and dedication were unmatched.

An avid Giants and Notre Dame fan he was happiest watching a game and drinking his beer. His kindness and thoughtfulness were unmatched, and his natural talent for making everyone laugh brightened every room he entered. He was also known for his incredible work ethic, approaching every task with dedication and determination.

Matthew is survived by his partner, Valencia; his son; Connor, his siblings Laura, Aileen, Patricia, Brendan, Charlotte, Caroline, Jessica and Daniel. He is predeceased by his parents Herbert and Kathleen.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 10:00 am at the Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home in Flemington.
