Mattie Maude Green Obituary

Mattie Maude Green, transitionsed this life on December 30th, 2023 at Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving and devoted family in Savannah Georgia. She was born November 12th, 1952 to the late Mr. Brooks Alton Moody and Mrs. Carrie Eva Moody in Claxton, Georiga. She was Proceeded in death by two brothers Donald Moody and Julius Alton Moody, and one Sister Catherine "Kitty" Moody.

Mattie recieved her formal education at Central High School in Sylvania, Georgia. As a younger sibling growing up, Mattie was a vibrant soul who enjoyed life. Mattie later moved to Savannah Georgia and in her early adult life married and raised her family in various states and countries as a military wife. Certainly no stranger to what life dished out in her early and later seasons of life, all would serve as a foundation to an unbreakable bond that each siblings had with Mattie and she with them, that was no secret. A loving tight knit circle working through all that life threw at them all the way to the end.

Mattie soaked in the culture of the world as a mother, military wife, advid reader, and consumer of history. Her sense of fashion, decor, taste, love for the arts, and music was second to none. When it came to dancing she was in a class all of her own. If you did know Mattie you would have thought she was a model in a former career. Mattie would strike a pose on and off camera with style, grace, and elegance like no other. Her beauty and intelligence made her our forever Jet Beauty of the Week.

Mattie loved her children, grand children, and great grand children immensely. She shared a unique bond will them all and was a rock for strength and warfare if needed. Mattie saw life as an opportunity to live life to the fullest with joy, and not to be in bondage of fear, doubt, or sadness. Mattie was an overcomer of adversity, champion of truth, and agent of courage. Mattie lived her life on her own terms and found a way to share pieces of her essence with her family and friends in a way that only she knew how and made an everlasting imprint.

Mattie is the true inspiration of The Green Legacy. Her heart continues to beat in all of us, her voice continues to guide us into and over any terrain, and her light continues to shine and light the pathway for all of us who remain.

Your Sand of Time in this world has dropped it's last grain Momma, but your eternal lamp is now on in the sky of the heavens above.
