Mel Ward, 62, passed away August 1, 2021 at Liberty Regional Medical Center in Hinesville, Georgia.
Mel was born in Sarasota, Florida. He grew up in San Diego, California where he learned his passion for scuba diving and surfing. Mel had on many times scuba dived with his favorite shark, the great white. He left California to join the navy working with submarines. Mel went back to Sarasota where he became a dedicated licensed practical nurse. Mel loved his patients, and they loved him. While in Sarasota, Mel met his wife of 16 years, Emily. Mel had to stop being a nurse after 2010 because of a series of heart attacks and a stroke. In 2020, Mel and Emily moved to Georgia, where his new passion began, fostering and caring for stray cats. Mel and Emily never had children but they had six fur babies, they were his life. Mel was a Christian. He was a very giving man and was hardworking his whole life.
Burial will be private. Mel asked that everyone play Norman Greenbaum’s, Spirit in the Sky when he dies.
Dont be sad, be happy that day because he will joining his Jesus in heaven.
