Morris A. Redmond, 66, went to his Heavenly Home on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loved ones.
Morris was born November 11, 1956 in Palatka, Florida to parents, Andrew Redmond and Wealthy Lee Simmons. At 12 years old Morris moved to New York City with his mother. He attended schools in the New York area where he also went to college obtaining his Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. Morris made the decision to serve his country by enlisting into the United States Army. During his distinguished military career he received many awards, ribbons and commendations including The Bronze Star. He retired as a Master Sergeant after his last assignment at Ft. Stewart, Georgia with 28 years of exemplary service. After his military career Morris worked in the education system as a teacher serving the Liberty County area. He was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Redmond, and his brother, Andrew Redmond, Jr.
Morris loved the outdoors especially when he was gardening and fishing. He was a great man full of joy and happiness. He enjoyed making conversation with his friends and family. Morris was a mentor to many people that he encountered over the years. He was very instrumental in many of his work related missions and helped bring about comradery to the people he encountered in his life.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Geketa Remond; son, Morris A. Redmond, Jr., daughter, Mercedes Redmond (Edward Rattray); two grandchildren, Ersell McCullen, III and Isaiah A. Redmond; mother, Wealthy Simmons; brothers, Mark Redmond and Anthony Redmond; a host of nieces and nephews from New York City; and many other family members, friends, and coworkers he met during his career.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2023 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home in Flemington.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 21, 2023 at 1:00 pm at the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at 3:00 pm at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville with full military honors being rendered.
