Penney Jean (McClure) Mahoney of Midway Ga., age 62 passed away at home after a battle with breast cancer on August 27, 2021 with her loving husband Pastor Michael Gene Mahoney Sr. by her side.
Penney was born June 6, 1959 in Hicksville Ohio, the daughter of the Richard A. McClure and Rosemarie (Thompson) Karlstadt. She served in the United States Army in the signal Corp. And as a military spouse she served as an Army Family Team Building Instructor, as well as a Family Support Team Volunteer for the family members of those deployed. Penney was a faithful servant of the churches she attended throughout her life and remained steadfast in her faith until the end.
Penney is survived by her husband, her three children, Michael Gene Mahoney Jr., Linda Marie (William) Lane, and Stephen Lee (Cayla) Mahoney. Her six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, six siblings, many nieces and nephews, and her loving church family. She was preceded in death by her mother, Rosemarie (Thompson) Karlstadt, her father, Richard McClure, her brother, David McClure, her sister, Carrie O’Neal and her grandson, Jacob D. Lane.
Penney requested that in lieu of sending flowers, she would prefer that donation be made to either The Nehemiah Fund at the Fleming Baptist Church in Fleming Georgia, or to Nancy N. and J.C Lewis Cancer & Research Center in Savannah, Georgia.

Visitation services will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Fleming Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Fleming Baptist Church with Rev. Joshua Parker officiating. Committal will be at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 3:00 pm with military honors being rendered.
