Penny Lee (Abbott) Cox

Penny Lee (Abbott) Cox, 59, went to her Heavenly Home Monday, August 5, 2024 after an unexpected illness. 

Penny was born July 24, 1965 to parents, John Walter Abbott, Sr. and Gladys Lee Cook Abbott in Decatur, Georgia. She grew up in Lake George and attended schools in Liberty County.  Penny was a graduate of Bradwell Institute, class of ‘83 where she was also a member of the BI Dancerettes. After graduation Penny worked for several companies in the area. She was currently working at Strength of Nature in Savannah up until her passing. Penny was a hard worker and when she wasn’t working she loved crabbing, cooking, and just being with her family. She loved watching the Georgia Bulldogs which was a tradition in her family. Penny was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, John W. Abbott, Jr.; infant brother, Timothy Abbott; son, Daniel Hilton and her brother-in-law, Don Dykes. She will be dearly missed by all of those that loved her.

Penny is survived by her husband, Rodger Dale Cox; daughter, Brittny Hilton; son, Rodger Dale Cox, II (Kirstyn); sister, Rita Dykes; nieces, Leah Gumataotao (Vince) and Ashley Dickerson (Eric): nephew, Zachary Dykes and many other extended family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 4:00 pm at the Thomas L. Carter Home in Flemington.
