Rachel Henson

Rachel Henson, age 81, of Hinesville, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at 4:30 a.m. at Memorial Hospital in Savannah.

Rachel was born on April 14, 1941 to Grady and Leona Franks in Corinth, Mississippi. They moved to West Memphis, Arkansas and made that home. After marrying Charles Henson (deceased), US Army, Rachel traveled all over the United States until settling down back in West Memphis with their four children.

Rachel and her family moved to Hinesville in 1979 and made it their permanent residence. She was manager of Coastal Pawn Shop for over 20 years until it closed. She met her partner, Paul Smith, and made a life together in Hinesville.

She was a very generous person and always had a smile for you. She was optimistic about everything and could laugh through any situation. She always saw the glass as “half full’.

Rachel is preceded in death by her parents Grady and Leona Franks and several brothers and sisters, a daughter, and a grandson. She is survived by her partner, Paul Smith; daughters Sandra Wild (Casey Wild), granddaughter, (Da’Cresha Williford, granddaughter); Jean Young (Shane Young, grandson); Vickie Henson; Jason Rosengard (grandson); and Peyton Griggs (great grandson).

Memorial services will be held Monday, March 6, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. at Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home in Flemington. Pastor Gabe Gill will be officiating the service.
