Ricky Lynn Godfrey, 63, passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2021 after a long illness.
Ricky was born September 8, 1957 in Paragould, Arkansas to the late Elmer, Jr. and Augusta Grace (Sparkman) Godfrey. He was a graduate of Bradwell Institute, class of ‘75. Ricky enlisted in the Navy after graduation, where he was a Sea Air Rescue Sailor. After serving his country Rick, as some called him, (Ricky was a family name) opened and operated Rick’s Body Shop for over 30 years. He also worked for the Long County Road Department as the shop mechanic. Ricky was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Diann Jenkins, sister, Yolanda Sue Freud and Montiene Godfrey. Ricky will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
Ricky is survived by his wife, Debi Gaulden Godfrey; children, Rebecca Olson, Teinka Anderson (Billy) and David Godfrey; 7 grandchildren, Morgan, Madison, twin boys, Alex and Andy, OnaSea, Araya Sunshine and Meadow Brooke; one great-grandson, Leo Ryder; sister, Dora Alliene Morris (Norman); special nephew, Steven Lindsay, and many other family members and nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2021 with visitation beginning at 3:00 PM and the funeral service at 4:00 PM at the Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Flemington.
Ricky’s final resting place will be at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville, where military honors will be rendered.
