Robert Dee Obituary

Robert John Dee

September 7, 1956-March 10, 2022

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Robert Dee, 65, of Allenhurst, GA on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at Memorial Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He battled a rare form of cancer and did so courageously and on his own terms- as he did with any opposition he met in life.

Robert John Dee, affectionately known as Bob or Bobby, was born September 7, 1956, in Pittsburgh,  PA to the late Leonard and Rosemarie Dee. He was their first son, and third eldest of nine children. His father’s love of airplanes and flying was passed on to Bob as a young boy. He earned his private pilot’s license and was a member of the Civil Air Patrol. After graduating from Norwin High School in June 1974, Bob joined the U.S. Army and served as a helicopter pilot until his honorable discharge in 1980.

Bob began studying the Bible and was baptized in 1981 as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He settled in Liberty County, GA where he met the love of his life, Carrie, and her son, Pernell, whom he also loved dearly. They were married nine months later in 1983, and to this union two beautiful daughters were born.

Bob was always a hard-working provider for his family. He owned and operated a commercial cleaning business and was contracted to Hobart in Richmond Hill, GA for over two decades before they closed in 2014. His most recent employment was at Elan Technology in Midway, GA.

He was a philosophical thinker and an avid reader, and would spend countless hours researching history and theology, and teaching others about the Bible. He loved his cup of coffee in the mornings and 5am early witnessing on the weekends with his brothers and sisters in faith. He also enjoyed several hobbies including making model airplanes, computer programming, and being in the kitchen while Carrie cooked, waiting to be her taste-tester. He was a kind soul, who could put a smile on your face with one of his many dad jokes. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, as you could see the love he had for them in his smile as his eyes lit up when they were around.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 38 years, Carrie; son, Pernell Boyd; two daughters, Aijalon Brock (Deshon) and India Dee; four grandchildren: Braelon, Maleah, Aiden, and Autumn Brock; 8 siblings: Patricia Rocco, Diane Oakley, Leonard E. Dee, Jr., David J. Dee, Lawrence T. Dee, Kathleen Clark, Richard M. Dee, and James Dee; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends that will miss him immensely.

Bob’s family would like to extend heartfelt thanks and appreciation for all the prayers, words of comfort, meals, and other contributions following his passing.

A memorial and celebration of Bob’s life will be held virtually on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at 1:00 pm est. Please visit the website below for instructions to join the service.
