Robert “Rob” James Galligan, Jr., 61, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at Memorial Health in Savannah, Georgia.
Rob was born on July 28, 1961 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Robert James Galligan, Sr. and Gertrude Ann Kane. He grew and attended schools in the Queens area where he played football and was a member of the band. Music was a big part of Rob’s life and being a part of the band allowed him to showcase his musical talents. After graduating from Clarkstown High School he worked various jobs before enlisting into the United States Army. Robert served 8 years in the military as a tanker and was deployed to Korea for the duration of one year. After his service in the military Robert went into the HVAC industry.
In the late ‘90’s Rob and a few friends started a couple of heavy metal band’s, one which was called Fractured and the other, Escape Confusion. They played many gigs in Savannah and the surrounding areas which allowed Rob’s drum playing talent to be shared with many. He also had a passion for bull riding and the rodeo. Rob and his daughter, Drusilla, shared that rodeo passion and built and operated a rodeo practice bullpen for others to come out and enjoy their passion. Rob and his daughter and many friends “The Redneck Council” took their rodeo skills down the road to the NC Ranch to fulfill their rodeo dreams. Rob was preceded in death by his father, Robert James Galligan, Sr. and his brother, Michael Galligan. He will be greatly missed by his family and others that loved him.
Robert is survived by his wife of 36 years, Miae Galligan; daughter and son-in-law, Drusilla and Mason Clingan; grandchildren, Montana “Tana”, Chet and Aria Clingan; his mother, Gertrude Galligan; brother, Patrick Galligan; sister-in-law, Ellen Price; niece, Alyssa Price; and many other extended family members.
