First Sergeant (Ret.) Robert “Bob” Dale Wolford, 79, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 3, 2020.
Bob was born on August 22, 1941 to Claude and Mary (Ayer) Wolford in Palmerton, Pennsylvania. He had lived in Liberty County since 1980 having moved here from Germany. Bob was a veteran of the United States Army where he was stationed in Germany, Vietnam, Korea and Thailand. He retired after 24 1/2 years of service as a First Sergeant. Bob was a member of the American Legion Post 321, a lifetime member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 789 and the DAV, Chapter 46. He was retired civil service. Bob was also an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors are his wife of 58 years, Luzie Wolford of Hinesville; daughter, Katherina Middleton of Kentucky; brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Carol Wolford and Kevin and Linda Wolford all of Pennsylvania; sister and brother-in-law, Carole and Daniel Miller of Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Alysa and Christopher; one great grandchild, Keagan and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 7, 2020 at 11:00 am at the Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home in Flemington with Deacon Chad Chaffee officiating. Military honors will be rendered at the funeral service. Burial will be in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville, Georgia.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers that donations can be made to the Vietnam Veterans, PO Box 1679, Hinesville, Georgia 31313.
