Ronald Sullivan Robinson, 77, passed away in Savannah March 5, 2026, after a lengthy illness. He was born in Hinesville GA, August 5, 1948, to the late Fraser Robinson and the late Isabel Welborn Sands.
After graduating from Bradwell Institute, Class of ‘66, Ron served in the Marine Reserves. During that time, he completed his education at Georgia Southern in Statesboro. Ron later chose to live in Hinesville, where he taught and retired with the Liberty County School System.
Ron particularly appreciated the coastal areas and enjoyed visiting, exploring, and learning about the history of both the land and the people. He took great pride in his family legacy and the history of Liberty County. His greatest legacy was making people laugh. During the last months of his life, Ron blossomed in the community of Harmony at Savannah. He was able to renew his love of reading and found a new interest in art. He could be seen laughing and talking wherever he went.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. Terry Winston Welborn and Isabel Sullivan Welborn; his brother, Fleming; and his beloved aunt, Mrs. Nancy Wood.
Ron’s caring, joyful spirit will be remembered and celebrated by his friends-both old and new-and his surviving family: his cherished wife of 39 years, Jeanine; his nephew, Brian; his treasured cousin, Terriann; his loving Pittsburgh family; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Ron courageously battled health issues for the last several years of his life. Remembrances in his name can be sent to The American Heart Association.
Family & close friends gathered Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 1:00 pm at the funeral home in Flemington to share stories and look at photos of and reminiscence Ronald’s many life experiences and adventures. At 2:00 pm the group went in procession to Flemington Presbyterian Church Cemetery for a committal service with Rev. Brenda Crawford leading in prayer.
Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home & Crematory is handling the arrangements.
