Rosemary (Baker) Smith

Ms. Rosemary Baker Smith (affectionately known as Moody) entered into eternal rest on February 24, 2023 at Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loved ones.

Rosemary was born April 23, 1951 in Walthourville, Georgia. The Lord entrusted her to the late parents, Felton L. Baker, Sr. and Helen Baker Stewart. Rosemary was a lifelong resident of Liberty County, where she was employed for many years in the food industry. Later, Rosemary was employed as a caregiver for over ten years with the family of Mr. Len and Mrs. Graddy. Rosemary was a faithful member of Greater Works Community Church, under the leadership of pastors John and Margaret Williams.

Rosemary served as the Matriarch of her family and was a woman of hospitality. She was a sociable and humble person who desired to keep her family closely knitted. God blessed her with a special talent for cooking, and she enjoyed planning family gatherings, dinners and cookouts. Rosemary especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and visiting friends.

Rosemary leaves to cherish her memories three children, Gwendolyn L. Smith of Augusta, GA, Sandra T. Simmons (Arnold) of Charlotte, N.C. and Jennifer Fabian of Hinesville, GA; four siblings, Mildred Baker of Hinesville, GA, Julia (Leddrew) McLaurin of Gary, Indiana, Gloria (Sanford) Cameron of Statesboro, GA and Felton L. Baker, Jr. of Allenhurst, GA; one uncle, Levester Baker (Janet) of Columbus, GA; three aunts, Mary E. Baker of Allenhurst, GA, Owedia Williams (Fred) of Colorado Springs, CO.; special aunt, Laura Bell Bacon of Walthourville, GA; thirteen grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two special God Son’s, Felton L. Baker, III (Connie) of Hinesville, GA and Corey (Tisa) Brown of Ludowici, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.

Visitation services will be held on Friday, March 3, 2023 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home in Flemington.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Liberty Prayer Chapel on Memorial Drive in Hinesville with Pastor Katrina E. Deason presiding.  Internment will follow at B and B Cemetery in Walthourville.
