Russell Ditlow Obituary

Russell Ditlow, 63, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2022, surrounded by his family, after a short illness.

Russell was raised in the Hinesville area, and was a 1976 graduate of Bradwell Institute. A loving and dedicated husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend- Russell had a heart of gold, and the most humble spirit. His kindness, generosity, sincerity, and work ethic, made a lasting impression on all who knew him. Russell had a deep love for his family, a passion for tending to his home and flowers, and a compassion for the stray animals that crossed into his path. Near the end of his life, Russell accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, and took so much joy in sharing this experience with those he loved.

Russell was a beloved team member of Lewis Frasier Middle School, and was both a friend and mentor to the faculty and students during his dedicated years of service.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ida Mae Kohari, and daughter, Latricia Clark.

Russell is survived by his wife of 33 years, Connie Ditlow, son, Chris Schimmel (Richard); brother, Andy Kohari (Brandi), sister, Janice Horne (Kevin); nieces, Amber Lynn Horne, and Abby Horne Woodard, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, his faithful dog Beau, and several cats.

The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff who provided exceptional care to Russell during his stay in the Medical ICU at Memorial Health in Savannah, including nurses: Kimberly, Jacob, Jess, Jordan, and Bethany.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 24, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Flemington with David Turner, and Pastor Brad Boynton, officiating.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Burial will immediately follow the service, at Hinesville Cemetery on South Main Extension.

Active Pallbearers are Johnny Love, Floyd Cohen, Mark Horne, Chad Ackman, Kareem Williams, and Curtis Rentz.

Honorary Pallbearers are the faculty and staff of Lewis Frasier Middle School, Chris Schimmel, Luis Ojeda, and David Baker.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to Lewis Frasier Middle School, to provide enrichment and support for the students that Russell loved.
