Ruth Irene (Abbott) Brant

Ruth Irene Brant, affectionately known as, Irene, age 89, of Midway, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, June 20, 2026, while under the loving care of hospice and surrounded by her family.

For more than 23 years, Irene was affectionately known throughout the community as “The Avon Lady.” She never met a stranger and was loved for her warm smile, kind heart, and friendly spirit. Irene enjoyed singing gospel and country music and found great joy in sharing those passions with family and friends.

Irene was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harry Brant, Sr. and her sons, Harry Brant, Jr. and Joseph Robert Brant.

She is survived by her sisters, Wilma Akana (Larry) and Louise Tillman (Ed); her children, Deborah Brant of Midway, Georgia, Hank Brant (Lila) of North Carolina, Terresa Morris (Jim) of North Carolina, and Lucy Oglesbee (Herman) of Ludowici, Georgia; her daughter-in-law, Robin Brant of Midway, Georgia; as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will cherish her memory.

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Marie, Darlene, and the Georgia Hospice Care team for the compassionate care and kindness they provided, helping make Irene’s final days peaceful and filled with love.

Irene was a faithful member of Midway Baptist Church, where she worshipped for many years.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 24th, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Midway Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor J.C. Wright. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow service at Hillcrest Abbey West in Savannah. 

Pallbearers: Christopher Riddle, Timothy Morris, Donavan Mansfield, Roy Boegal, Daniel Snyder and Alex Snyder. 

Irene Brant will be remembered for her unwavering kindness, her faith, her love for music, and the countless lives she touched through simple acts of friendship and compassion. Her legacy of love and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations may be sent to Irene’s daughter, Deborah Brant, to help with expenses at: 465 E. Poncell Dr., Midway, Georgia 31320.
