SSG Edward “Ed” Chambers (U.S. Army Retired) Obituary

SSG Edward Charles Chambers, (U.S. Army Retired) passed away  Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at his home. 

Ed was born November 21, 1950 in St. Louis, Missouri to parents, Willam L. Chambers and Dorothy H. Miller Chambers. He was raised in California by his foster family, the Elmore’s. Ed served over twenty-three years in the United States Army where he did a tour in Vietnam and was also a veteran of The Gulf War. He received many ribbons, medals, and commendations during his enlistment including several Bronze Stars for his meritorious service to his country. After his military career Ed went to work for The Liberty County Road Department and he fully retired in 2008. 

After Ed’s final retirement, he and the love of his life, Amy, packed up and moved to Valdesse, North Carolina where they spent most of their time camping with friends they made after joining the Good Sam Club. Ed moved back to Georgia after the passing of his wife, Amy, to focus on the grandkids. He enjoyed dirt track racing and fishing. Ed was also a member of The American Legion, Post#168. He was preceded in death by his wife, Amy. Ed will be greatly missed by his family and friends. 

Ed is survived by sons, James Dunn and Adam Chambers; grandkids, Chad Chambers, Lille Chambers, Gavin Harrell, and Tucker Cooley. 

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 3rd, 2026 at 11:00 am at the Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Billy Tison opening with prayer. Full military honors will be rendered during the service by members of the United States Army Honors Team.
