SSG (Ret) Bruce Leonard Brunow, 72, went to be with his Heavenly Father Friday, September 23, 2022 at Beaufort Memorial Hospital in South Carolina.
Bruce was born February 19, 1950 to the late Wilfred Brunow and Mildred Greuel Brunow in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He grew up in Milwaukee and after graduation in 1969 from Custer High School Bruce enlisted into the United States Army where he served for over twenty years and also did a tour to Vietnam. While enlisted Bruce received many awards, ribbons and medals for his exemplary service. After serving his country Bruce enjoyed his retirement by doing the things he loved to do. He enjoyed ice fishing, hunting and tinkering around with small engines. Bruce liked to make crafts, especially making stained glass Windows, he also enjoyed gardening. He was preceded by his parents, sons, Richard D. Baker and Gregory L. Baker, brothers, Keith Brunow and Paul Brunow, Sr. Bruce will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Kathy Brunow of Ludowici; son, Kevin Brunow of Augusta, daughter, Patricia Harn (Frederick) of Bloomingdale, son, Michael Baker of Augusta, daughter, Rachel Alden of Wisconsin, daughter, Priscilla Alden of Wisconsin, son, John Griffin of Wisconsin; sister, Karyl Tutaj (David) of Wisconsin; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, 1 great great grandson; several nieces and nephews and many extended family members.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at 6:00 pm at the Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Flemington with full military honors being rendered. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Pastor Walt Pelton will be officiating.
