Staff Sergeant (Ret.) Mark Allen Blood, 55, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, June 26, 2021 at his home.
Mark was born May 21, 1966 to parents, Gary and Dolores Blood in Wausau, Wisconsin. He was raised and went to school in Birnamwood. Mark then joined the Army where he was active duty for four years before getting out and then rejoining with the National Guard/MATES. He retired after serving for twenty-two years. After retirement Mark worked at Walmart for a year and a half in the TLF Department. He had been a Liberty County resident for thirty-three years.
Mark was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and grandfather. He was a loyal friend and was loved by many. Mark loved his family, he especially loved being a papa. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and fixing and building things. Mark was a good person, he had a kind heart. He was always friendly, and he never met a stranger. Mark was the type of person who did not know how to say no, the word was just not in his vocabulary. He was always willing to help out if someone was in need. Mark will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Mark is survived by his parents, Gary and Dolores Blood; sister, Kim Johanning, brother, Scott Blood and their spouses; his wife, Henrietta Garrison; children, Jason Walling, Cassie Garrison, Shawna Linderman and their spouses; eight grandchildren; aunts, uncles and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at 1:00 pm at the National Guard Retention/Armory at 611 E. Oglethorpe Highway, located here in Hinesville, in the gymnasium. Everyone is welcome to come celebrate a life taken too soon, but lived to the fullest. Military honors will be rendered at the service in recognition of Mark’s dedication to his country.
