Susanne “Ann” Young

Susanne Young, 65, went to her heavenly home Monday, November 8, 2021 at Memorial Health University in Savannah, Georgia.

Anyone who knew my mother, Susanne Young (Ann) knew that she was a caring person. Mom would cook food and feed the entire block. She would ask me how many people were working with me on holidays and would bring a hefty plate of food for everyone. If you asked her advice, she was very honest. She would go to food banks and get enough food to hand out to those who could not make it there. She went to clothes drives and would think about others and get items for them. 

Mom was a comedian, but she was not trying to be. She would have us laughing with her stories, mind you they were true stories, but the way she told them had you crying laughing. She was such a joy to be around. Her presence was known when she walked into a room. Her big smile brightened the room. Do not let her hear music, she would dance or sit and sing the song and could tell you the name of the song, the artist, and the year the song was recorded. I wanted to take her on a gameshow for music because she was so good at it. 

Mom and I were together all the time. People thought we were sisters. When I told them she was my mom, they would look at us and say, “Wow, mom looks younger than she was in age.”  It was a blessing to have my mom in all our lives. She was kind, funny, caring, a sister, an aunt, a friend and a sharing person. She never met a stranger, and she was always willing to help others.

Susanne Young will be missed but will still be loved through all of us because she was a person that when you met her, you would never forget her. Rest in Heaven mom. Remembering you always and loving you forever!

A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 12, 2021 at the Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home Chapel at noon. The service will be live-streaming through the funeral homes Facebook page.
