Ted Bailey Obituary

Good-byes are not forever, good-byes are not the end, they simply mean I’ll miss you, until we meet again.  Ted Bailey, age 73, took the Stairway to Heaven on September 3, 2024, in the comfort of his own home. Ted was born on July 18, 1951, in Logan, West Virginia.

Together, we may acknowledge and share both our joy in the gift that his life was to us, and in the pain that his passing brings. In sharing the joy and pain together on this day, may we lessen the pain and remember more clearly the joy. A memorial service to honor Ted Bailey will be held on September 7th, 2024, at 5:00 PM at Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home in Hinesville, GA. All who knew him are welcome to attend and celebrate his life.

First and foremost, Ted was a loving father, brother, uncle, pawpaw, and friend. Ted was a Vietnam War veteran who served in the U.S. Army from 1971-1974.  In addition to his military service, Ted worked as a Construction Superintendent retiring from Sloan construction in 2012. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Ted was deeply passionate about music. He was known for his love of singing and his talent on the drums. His musical spirit was a source of joy and inspiration to all who knew him, and his performances were always a highlight of family gatherings and celebrations.

Ted is survived by his wife of 38 years, Donna; his children, Tony Bailey of Midway, GA, Donnie Bailey of Midway, GA, Jesscia Martin of Midway, GA, Christina Martin (Fred Hart) of Coppers Cove, TX, Brittany Bailey of Midway GA and Allison Bailey (Daniel Mauras) of Ludowici, GA; his grandchildren, Katlyn Bailey, Logan Bailey, Deandrea Willis, Jayda Martin, Trayven Sharp, Saron Martin, Laron Martin, Kamden Slayton, Jacob Bailey, Madison Bailey and Michael Bailey; Great-Grandchildren, Mekai Chew and Levi Chew. And he is survived by his sister, Rebecca Hopkins (Jay Hopkins) of North Carolina, his sister in-law Shelia Jarrell (Rick Jarrell) of Hinesville, Georgia and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Donald Bailey and his mother Florence Fleming and his in-laws Garland Wilburn and Wanda Wilburn.

Ted will be profoundly missed but remembered with love and admiration for his service, his music, and his unwavering dedication to his family and friends.

“But if I stay here with you, girl, things just couldn't be the same, 'cause I'm as free as a bird now.”

Services will be held at the Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home at 5:00 pm on Saturday, September 7, 2024. Military honors will be rendered at the service.

Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home & Crematory is handling the arrangements.
