Thomas James Johnson, Jr., 65, passed away unexpectedly on May 15, 2021.
Thomas was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on January 7, 1956 to Thomas James Johnson, Sr and Annie Lee Brown Johnson. The family relocated to Chicago, Il in 1959. He accepted Christ at an early age and attended Mozart Baptist for several years. Thomas attended DuSable High School.
During his formative years he worked in various skilled positions. He spent his latter years with his life partner and best friend, Irasema Terry Napoles, whom he enjoyed traveling, fishing, and cooking with. Thomas took pride in his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. While never advancing in formal education, Thomas took pride in instilling the importance of an education and working hard in his children and grandchildren.
Thomas leaves to cherish his memory, his partner, Terry; his children, Latoya, DeMarcus, Thomas (T.J), Thomas III (Tom-Tom) and Jessica; his grandchildren, Shanel, Tranicka, Tierra, Moses, Moesha, Hy’Dashia, Isaiah, La’Nara, Ma’Niya, Trenton, Thomas Jr., DeMarcus, Aiden, Ania, Thomas IV and Teneah; his great-grandchildren, Trinity, Serenity, Tyia, Tyler and De’Sire ; his sister, Clara and her husband, Burdett, and their daughter, Maisha; his step-siblings, Arnese, Tessie, and Oscar; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and close friends; a special acknowledgement to his lifelong friend, Senora.

A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday May 22, 2021 with the viewing from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm and the memorial service at 2:00 pm, which will be live-streaming via Facebook through the funeral home’s Facebook page. Services will be held at the Thomas L Carter Funeral Home, 1822 E Oglethorpe Hwy, Hinesville, Georgia 31313 with Rev. Dr. Maisha I. Handy officiating.
